How to put the song you’re playing in a photo on iPhone
A now playing photo, in Ifscape, is a real place with a glass vinyl card standing in it. The card shows the song hanging in the iOS Music app — cover, title, artist, playhead — and the scenery shows through the glass. One shutter saves both. Vinyl is free.
Get Ifscape on the App StoreNot a share card, not a player
Apps that overlay a now-playing template on a photo you already took are share-card makers. They pick a layout, drop in title and artist, and export a graphic. Ifscape is a camera. The vinyl card is a glass object in the live scene, the same family as the glass clock. Play, skip and like on the card are drawn; they do not control Music.
You do not need an Apple Music subscription. If a song is in the iOS Music app — playing, paused, or just left — that is the song on the card. Local and purchased tracks count. Spotify, YouTube Music and similar apps do not appear on the card.
| Ifscape vinyl | Share-card / lyrics apps | |
|---|---|---|
| When you compose | On the live camera, or on an imported photo | Usually after you pick a still |
| What you see through it | The real scene, through glass | A designed template |
| Which song | Whatever Music is hanging on | A search or a picker in that app |
| Buttons | Decoration | Often part of the graphic only |
How to shoot it
- Play a song in the iOS Music app, or leave one paused. Ifscape only reads that app.
- Open Ifscape, point at the place (or import a photo), and choose Vinyl. The first time, allow Media & Apple Music if asked. A refusal leaves an empty card; you can connect later in Settings → Music.
- The card shows cover, title, artist and playhead. Switch cover or compact layout on the right. Drag, pinch and rotate until the song stands in the scene.
- Tap the shutter. The place and the song are one photo.
If Music has no song
The card stays empty when you have never played anything in Music, you denied the permission, or you are listening in another app. In Settings → Music you can pick a stand-in track so the card still has a real title and artist. As soon as Music has a song again, that song always wins. Saved photos are not rewritten.
When the song is the thing to keep
- A walk, a window, a platform — the track that was on while you were there.
- A still for a story, where the card is in the place instead of a separate graphic.
- The same idea as the clock: not a caption in the corner, an object standing here. Other ways — time, colors, a word — are in ways to mark a place in a photo.
Vinyl is free to capture, like clock, color card, text and ink. Photos taken without Ifscape Plus carry a small Ifscape wordmark.
Questions about now playing photos
Does Ifscape read Spotify or other music apps?
No. The vinyl card only reads the song hanging in the iOS Music app (playing or just paused). Spotify, YouTube Music and similar apps do not appear on the card.
Is Ifscape a music player or a now-playing share-card maker?
Neither. It is a camera. The vinyl card is a glass object in the photograph. Play, skip and like on the card are drawn, not live. Share-card apps overlay a template on a photo you already took; Ifscape composes the card on the live view with the real scene showing through the glass.
What if Music has no song?
The card is empty unless you pick a stand-in song in Settings → Music. As soon as the Music app has a track again, that track always wins.
