How to put an object in front of a landscape photo on iPhone

To put an object in front of a landscape on iPhone, compose it over the live camera view (or an imported photo) and press the shutter once. Ifscape does this with glass-made objects, so the scenery stays visible through them and the result is a single, ordinary photo.

Three ways to do it

How to do it with Ifscape

  1. Open the camera or import a photo: Point Ifscape at the landscape, or import a photo from your library.
  2. Choose a glass object: Pick a glass clock, color card, text, ink or sticker from the style bar.
  3. Place it: Drag, pinch and rotate the object until it sits where you want it in front of the scene.
  4. Tap the shutter: Ifscape saves one photo that contains both the scenery and the object.

Why glass objects

Ifscape’s origin is a simple idea: if an object is made on glass and you hold that glass in front of a picture, you see both the picture and the object. The glass objects refract and let the background through, so a clock, a color card or a line of text can stand in a landscape without hiding it.

It is not AR, not a filter and not a wallpaper maker. It is a camera that puts one object in front of one scene.

Questions about placing objects in photos

Do I need an AR app to put an object in front of a landscape?

No. AR apps anchor 3D models to surfaces that your phone detects. Ifscape works differently: you compose a glass object over the live camera view with your fingers, and the finished picture is saved as an ordinary photo.

Can I use a landscape photo I already took?

Yes. Import a photo from your library with the system photo picker, then place objects over it the same way as on the live view.

What objects can I put in front of the scenery?

Ifscape’s glass objects include a clock, a color card, text, ink flow and stickers. See the features page for what each one does.
